Meet the Mother

Mother Marie Therese Ego Okpala, is a Catholic religious Rev. Sister, a citizen of the United States, and originally from Achina, Anambra State of Nigeria.

She serves God's children in different capacities.  As a teacher, she taught in different schools including private and Catholic schools.  The inspiration to found a Congregation dates back to the week She gave her life to God when she was asked by the Superior General, Mother Marie Therese Akwe of happy memory to start a school that would cater to disadvantaged children at the outskirts of the city of Port Harcourt in Nigeria.  The humble beginnings of the Divine Child Jesus International School and naming of it gave birth to the vision to found The Daughters Divine Promise.

Apostolate has spanned working with Heart of the Nation in Burbank; a Catholic Communications Center in Los Angeles Archdiocese gave rise to assist with putting on the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist on television to assist the shot-ins in fulfilling their Sunday obligation.  Other apostolate includes but not limited to ministering and assisting the hopeless transition from their hopelessness to a positive level up hopefulness meant for the children of God (Healing- Spiritually, Physically and Psychologically).

Mother Marie Therese has been assisting men/women and children who had nowhere to go transition to a level of hopefulness.  They were provided with accommodation, referrals and financial support until they could get back on their feet. Presently, Mother Marie Therese, a Psychologist provides Social as well as Psychological Services to God’s children thereby providing them with Healing Services.  Mother Marie Therese was volunteering at the House of Mercy Pro Life in Rialto, providing them with healing that brought hopefulness to hopeless mothers and children at the shelter as well as preventing the loss of innocent lives. Families are kept together through services provided to them.

Although Mother Marie Therese Ego had the vision to found The Daughters of Divine Promise many years ago, the Congregation was officially born in 2005.  God’s children are assisted to claim/reclaim and discover/rediscover truth in love, direction and destiny in difficult/different phases of their transition.
